O tej łodzi

A little more in my workshop

I received this boat as a gift from an estate, with the condition that it be reactivated and made navigable. Pooh. . .
Mister Chance brought light into the dark. It's the "Chaperon" from the factory Engel.
Let's see if I get details and plans, because I didn't get anything except the paddle steamer. .
But first bring my other boats back to life! Folks, there's a lot of work waiting for me.
The condition is not exactly good, plastic parts everywhere. . wait, because there will be construction here again.
A poet once said that ideas and thoughts are free. . .
Bye for now!
Your Michel-Claude

Addition 19.01.2023 😌🤔
While I am working on the cutter, I need the gluing and paint drying times for the gathering and drawing of the individual parts needed here.

    Hello everyone...
Summer is drawing to a close, so it’s time to get back to modeling!
I’ve drawn up my list of tasks and am starting by modifying the lighting on the stern-wheel steamer.
After doing some research, I’m going to add position lights and adjust the deck lighting at the bow.
So, I’m starting now with the smaller tasks I can get done quickly. I’ll be in touch again...
    Yours, Michel-C.
PS: As you can see, there isn't enough light at the bow. Let's see what can be done about that . . .

Michel C schönen Abend.a good evening
If you sent me the adress where you are camping i can sent a lorry with 32 pallets of blank paper. Let me know the paper grammage and it can be there in 48 hours
You don’t have yo pay anything is a “Muster” free of charge. So you have at least the requested paper.
    Enjoy the crappy weather

Don't worry, Mike, I knew it was impossible, or nearly so, for the reasons I mentioned.
What you did (and I hope to see in photos and videos soon) was my plan B. No problem, it's not a fake.
Don't worry, RC model ships are full of tricks and compromises, even more obvious than this.
You've achieved your goal of making an excellently crafted model sail.

    Hi All, Hello Alessandro,
This time, I can't avoid cheating. If you keep this to yourselves, I'll reveal it.
There's nothing else like the original in Hamburg, where the paddle wheel only turns, but is driven by a propeller at the bottom. This is called fake!
But first, I'll try to put my idea down on paper . . .
I'm working on it, even while camping. Yes, I know, but the weather is so “crappy” that my wife doesn't mind.
She brought a very thick book with her! Lucky for me!!
    See you later, friends!
    Yours, Michel-C.

.. but now let's get to your problem.

I have never built a boat like the one you are building, but I know very well how difficult it is to turn it with the rudder.
The problem is not at all easy to solve.
You cannot use the paddle wheels for rotation because you only have one at the stern.
If the rudder does not have momentum it is ineffective.
In boats with a propeller, the boats can turn even when stationary because they exploit the flow of water created by the propeller itself.
On the other hand, boats with paddle wheels can create the flow of water on the rudder just by moving. When stationary you can't do anything.
To optimize the effect of the rudder at very low speeds, either enlarge the rudder blade or use a rudder of the type you showed: the Becker Flap Rudder.
This rudder was the subject of the question of the day two or three days ago. It was exactly the right answer.
It won't be easy to make it, it's quite a challenge but it's worth it.
The result is not guaranteed one hundred percent because the concept is to divert the water flow as much as possible (optimizing the rudder performance to the maximum) with a symmetrical biconvex airfoil equipped with flaps.
Indeed the flap will divert the water flow a lot but the flow must exist.
Alternatively you have to cheat a little.

Hi Mike on these sentences of yours:
"My brain is in full use again. . .
Crafting is just cool! And when you succeed in something, it brings a satisfaction that you like to have around you!"
    you have my full approval.
    I totally agree with you.
I don't care about making many models (which I wouldn't know where to put) because I don't have much time available, but: having to conceive, design from scratch and finally make something that is the fruit of my imagination gives me a lot of satisfaction.
Up to now, doing dynamic modeling, I have faced problems of nautical, mechanical, electronic, etc. etc. and I have enjoyed solving them (even getting angry with myself sometimes).

    YEAH!!!
Oh, I found something! Thanks to Google . . .
Now it's time to put it into practice.
My brain is in full use again . . .
Crafting is just cool! And when you succeed in something, it brings a satisfaction that you like to have around you!
I think I'll have to postpone this until tonight, when it will be cooler . . .
    Your Michel-C.

    Becker Flap Rudder
    Standard profile for medium-sized vessels
The Becker Flap Rudder is suited to a wide range of ship types and is designed and built according to the requirements of the ship. The standard profile of the Becker Flap Rudder is a high-lift rudder with a vertical leading edge. It is often installed on medium-sized vessels.

    Hello everyone!
On the last trip I realised that despite the plans the rudder to hull length is not correct and has too little effect.
Can anyone help me with how to calculate the optimum size for flat hulls?
    🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
Google explains a lot, but for a landlubber it's a closed book!
Thanks in advance for any of your tips!
    Your Michel-C.

She is beautiful. My brother built an eight footer and I remember how at times he just grew tired of building. It took him four years. You have done a superb job on her.

    Hello all!
I just couldn't resist and laser-cut the bell holder. Let's see what you think! 🙈🙈🙈
    Pure fantasy . . . . . .
    See you again soon!
